PUBG equalizer: Equalizer APO and presets

Start with the device

The client equalizer uses Equalizer APO. In its installer, select the output device PUBG actually uses and complete the required restart. USB headphones, onboard audio and Bluetooth may be separate devices. An installed APO does not prove it is attached to the active output.

Louder does not always mean clearer

Boosting every band amplifies gunfire and noise alongside footsteps. Compare one passage with and without the preset at moderate volume. Check the Equalizer APO device after switching USB headsets. Avoid uncomfortable listening levels.

Practical setup

1. Start at a moderate volume with a flat curve. Do not boost overall loudness just to hear footsteps.
2. Change one of the ten bands at a time. Lower bands affect rumble, middle and higher bands affect detail, but results depend on your headphones.
3. The wheel adjusts a band in small steps; double-click returns it to zero.
4. Save a working curve as a preset and compare it against the bypassed equalizer using the same sound segment.
5. Assign preset commands under Hotkeys. Recheck the device-specific settings when switching outputs.

If nothing changes

Check Windows and PUBG output selection, APO attachment and the app's enable switch. With Peace, avoid stacking curves you do not understand: compare configurations one at a time. Maximum gain can introduce distortion and make footsteps less distinguishable.

What an equalizer cannot do

It changes the frequency balance of existing sound, not missing game signals or hidden enemy positions. No preset works identically on every headset. Keep volume comfortable and take a break if listening becomes tiring.
