Sound radar: 7.1, direction and false markers

What markers represent

The radar analyses game-output audio and visualises signal direction. It does not read player coordinates or reveal enemies independently of sound. Gunfire, explosions, vehicles and other sounds can create ambiguous markers. Treat them as cues, not precise locations.

Sound left, marker right

Test channels with a predictable source, not a firefight. Check Windows output and headset settings; virtual 7.1 can alter results. The radar estimates audio direction, not player coordinates. Reflections and overlapping sounds are not precise enemy markers.

Setup

  1. Choose a supported output and 7.1 configuration in Windows. A stereo stream does not contain eight independent directions.
  2. Make sure PUBG uses the same output. Check audio-source status under Radar.
  3. Enable the radar and face north using the game compass. Run the assigned north-calibration command; its default is F4.
  4. In a safe training test, compare known sounds on the left, right and behind with the markers.
  5. Raise sensitivity gradually; excessive sensitivity increases false markers.

Incorrect directions

Recheck after changing the output device or channel configuration. If directions are rotated, reset north while facing the compass accurately. If all signals gather in one place, verify the actual output channels and virtualisation effects. Increasing sensitivity cannot fix channel routing.

Radar and equalizer

The equalizer changes perceived sound while the radar estimates direction. Configure them separately to understand each result. If there are no signals, check the source and game audio first. Do not expect every footstep to be detected: loudness, environment and the game's audio mix affect the result.
